James Morris began his career in education thirty years ago as a teacher and has served a principal, an assistant superintendent and a variety of administrative jobs.
In July 2010, he was selected as the Superintendent of the Fremont Unified School District. Immediately prior to this, he served in Los Angeles as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for 900 schools across more than 700 square miles. He also had experience as the Superintendent of District 2 supporting 100 schools with 103,000 students and families in the San Fernando Valley.
His undergraduate work was completed at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration at California State University Los Angeles and a Doctor of Education degree at University of California Los Angeles.
He has three grown children and 3 grandchildren. Jim and his wide Rose Marie are residents of Fremont.
